Speaking of cleaning....does anyone know a good way to repatina silver coins? I have this nice 1886-S Morgan that I got out of my dealer's junk Morgan box, but it's been cleaned. I'd love to be able to restore it to its natural beauty....it's sad when any coin is cleaned, but especially so when its a semi-key to a very popular series :(
To restore a coin after a cleaning just takes some exposure to the elements; I'd put it on a window sill with some sun exposure and normal air circulation.
There's been discussions about this involving the napkins from taco bell (high sulphur content)and old manilla coin envelopes and placing them in sunlight.
Thanks everyone, I'll be sitting the Morgan on my bedside table I think. It's near a window and the table itself is unfinished wood, so that may help too.
