Hi Everyone, I just found this 1900 one cent in a sheet of large cents from my dad's collection. Does anybody have any info on it? Thanks, Dan

The best I can tell you is that is has a value range of $5 to $25 US. Sorry I do not have more for you, but maybe someone else can add to what I have told you.
Her is a link that may help you a little more. http://(131231) Not Allowed - Auto-Removed /index.php

Is there a "H" at the bottom between the two leaves ?
Two key variations exist of the 1900 big cent. The version without the "H" is worth three times that of the "H" version.

Thanks fellas,
There is no "H", which explains the high price tag (from back in the 70-80's). Other than a little gunk spot on the front the coin is in great shape. It looks a much richer brown than in the above scans.
I found a whole page of these large cents and think they have a wonderful design (esp. the 19th century examples).

We'd love to see more pictures of the others The 1900 (no H) is listed in the 2010 Charlton as: EF40: $40, AU50: $75, AU55: $100, MS60 Brown $175, MS63 Red $750. All prices CAD.

ScarecrowGifts, can you show close ups of the obverse and reverse on the 1859, 1886 and the 1919.

Enjoy! The 1886 is my favorite, on the reverse all the lettering and leaves are a shiny red. On the front scan the plastic clung to the coin making it look mottled, but it is very even in person.

All three of these coins are very good years to look for variety's, I think the 1886 might be a obverse 1 its hard to tell, this year also has a double 6 on some coins. The 1859 is one of the best year for varieties, and 1919 has a rarity of 8 coin that has doubled 9's you might want to look at these coins closely.

Ok, I think I understand what the doubled 6 and 9 means. Please let me know what an Obverse 1 is and what I should look for on these coins.
Thanks, Dan

If you check out the web site under heading's Canadian Grading, Canadian Varieties and Error Coins there are some good picture's and discussions on the 1886 and the 1859 coins as well as other years like 1881, 1882, 1884, 1891, 1894, 1896 these are all very good variety years. Watch closely at all 1884 for obverse 1's (money coin)there are also some good reference sites to check out dan-in-crystal-lake and piczo varieties

Just figured out the 1886 is an obverse 1. Is this more rare?

Why do my fingers itch when I see a Canada Large Cent that isn't mine?! Lovely coins ScarecrowGifts! Thank you for the pictures. You could definitely spend some time checking for varieties on all of them. Some are quite pricey, especially in the higher grades. But whichever guide you look at, remember not to limit yourself to just what they show - there are more discoveries out there to be made. If you have any questions on any of them, of course you can always post a close-up for verification Have fun!
