if half of those coins listed are real then it is worth more than $60,000 but the one coin he "knows for sure is a proof" never had a "Proof" the Red Book only shows that coin as being possible to be MS-65 And the first coin on his list is a 1796 quarter .. he says all of his coins are uncirculated.. and that coin a lone in MS-60 is worth $80,000

I mean if those were real he'd take them to an auction house right?

Well, they say if you're going to lie, lie big.
Probably a bunch of Chinese counterfeits.
Love how he wants cash and nothing else. Traceability? What traceability?
Sounds to me like he got a big baggie for Christmas and has been partaking heavily.

Ahhhhhhhh.... He seems to have acquired a very rare 1889 Indian Head cent of a very strict mintage of almost 49,000,000...

I think he will find there are very few people with that kind of money that will jump through the hoops he lays out to do what sure sounds like a back alley deal. He's fooling himself if he thinks cash will make it untraceable. He may get away with it if the buyer cooperates, but if the buyer gets upset by the deal he could report the seller to the IRS. If the buyer shows $60,000 being taken out of his investments, can show the coins, and show the bank and safe deposit box the coins came out of the seller would have a hard time getting away with it. Doubly so since the IRS could get ebay to give them the info about the seller including the auction listing for the coins. What will probably happen is the seller will get no legitimate buyers but will have to deal with all kinds of people that want to play games with him and waste his time.

I though ebay rules said you have to take paypal now. Could this auction not be reported for breaking those rules....

Quote:I though ebay rules said you have to take paypal now. Could this auction not be reported for breaking those rules.... That's what I read too. I had already reported one of his other listings for the very same thing. We'll see if ebay thinks it's a violation.

ebay accepts all forms of payments, they just prefer you use their company (paypal).

Quote: Ebay accepts all forms of payments, they just prefer you use their company (paypal). Nope. You must accept Paypal. You may not even say you accept cash, let alone "cash only". Most of his listings are in violation and those have all been reported. Hopefully it won't take too long since it's a holiday.

I emailed him, and asked him if he could provide pictures, also asked if they were all really uncirculated, and finally I asked... "If I could get you 10 times what you are asking would it be worth 10% to you?" I'll let you know what / if he replys

Actually, Ebays policy doesn't state that you Have to accept Paypal. Quote:Our Accepted Payments policy helps ensure that buyers and sellers on ebay are offered safe, convenient payment options. For most categories, sellers need to offer one or more of the following electronic payment choices: PayPal ProPay Moneybookers Paymate Credit card or debit card processed through the seller's Internet merchant account Additionally, payment upon pickup and Bill Me Later are valid payment methods as well. For the life of me I can't figure out why ebay would permit "Payment upon Pickup" This guy would definately not report this sale to ebay and would circumvent any fees (other than listing fees)

scubu you are absolutely wrong. You are obviouly NOT a seller. You can send money orders, checks, etc. This is an excerpt from ebay: "How you pay for an item depends on the payment methods accepted by the seller. You should carefully read the item description before you bid to find out what methods the seller accepts."
