I listed a coin with a old format I used to use (I don't sell very often) and it would not even allow me to post the auction until I removed the accepts money orders for payment option in my listing so I know for a fact on coins you can not accept money orders and have to accept paypal

You can accept cash and money orders but you are not allowed to say you do.

He seems to keep having issues with his payment procedures.. he now has the proviso "the paypal option is for ebay compliance only." and he no longer states CASH ONLY with as much vigor

Regarding coins on the eyes of the dead (from various sources):
It is a custom in some cultures to place coins on the eyelids of the dead to keep their eyes closed. I remember my grandmother reaching into her purse for two shiny quarters that she subsequently placed on my grandfather's eyes after he died. I asked her why. She told me that it was a Magyar custom to close the eyes of the dead with silver because, if they remain open, we would see our own death captured in their eyes.
In Greek mythology, Hades (their version of the underworld), had 5 rivers; one of them being the Styx. Dead souls had to cross it once they left the realm of the living and the only way was on the boat of Charon. The ancient Greeks would put coins on the eyes of their dead so they could pay the boatman to ensure safe passage across the river, and that they would not be left behind.
In the early nineteenth century, the American and British poor often prepared their own dead for burial in a process called "laying-out," "streeking," or rendering the "last offices." Women normally washed the corpse, plugged its orifices, closed its eyes and mouth, straightened its limbs, and dressed or shrouded it. It was ritually important to close the eyes quickly, being that they are the first to rigidify in rigor mortis, and it was thought that a corpse with open eyes posed a threat to its kin. As has long been the case in many cultures, they used coins to keep the corpse's eyes closed. The practice of using coins endures, representing a feeling that money, so important in life, may also be important in death.
I believe some put coins over the eyes of the dead to hide the eyeballs? Sometimes the lids open?

So assuming I wanted to buy any of his items I could use my cell phone to pay on pick up. I will pose this question to him and see what answer I get

Question posted I understand this item is local pick up. So should I bid and win I assume you will require payment at that time via paypal cell phone transaction. Is this correct?

His reply there is no auction, this is a buy it now situation.you must be able to pick it up,but you pay when picking it up,you can't use paypal, you must be able to pay me at time of pickup.the item is for local pickup only, payment will be received upon pickup of the item only.you see in the listing that I take paypal and take payment when picking up the item. thats because the paypal option is for ebay compliance only.i have gone around with ebay on this situation even last night.this is one of the major problems with sending out these records.if you want them in good condition, sending them out is not an option.picking them up is an option.and then hopefully all of the records will be in good condition.as you know these records are made of shellac and pitch.for sometime we have been sending out these records, but once in a while they break, everyone accuses the other of insufficient packing or this and that. its just not worth it anymore. I can sympathize with the buyer too.so now,its pick up and pay me then.at least the buyer can see what they are buying.don't misunderstand, I don't mind sending them to you,but if I send any other way than media mail or parcel post, the cost is going to be high, and don't even mention ups, they are the worst. my telephone toll free number is 1-800-803-0216.to tell you the truth, I had over 75,000 records about 2 months ago, and I have been selling them in quantity since then. I have only 2000 records left.and now I am trying to specialize in doo wop and early blues. I get more records than anyone in the country because I specialize in a certain part of chicago where these records are found.anyone else in the record business in chicago won't go to this neighborhood(s), but I will, maybe because I grew up in that neighborhood,or because I am 250 lbs and 7 ft. tall. I don't know which.

Quote:Examples of actions that are not allowed on ebay:Bidding on your own item or having family members, roommates, or employees bid on your item (this is called shill bidding). Read about our shill bidding policy. Interfering with another member's transaction. For information and examples, see our transaction interference policy. Accepting payment and sending an item that is significantly different from the item described in the item listing. For more details, read our seller performance policy. Refusing to accept a buyer's PayPal payment using a credit card when the seller included the PayPal logo in the listing. For more info, see the PayPal payments policy.Charging buyers an additional fee for their use of ordinary forms of payment including acceptance of checks, money orders, electronic transfers or credit cards. For policy and examples, read our payment surcharges policy. When something goes wrong, including problems with a buyer, there are options available to you (find out more about resolving selling problems). Although, technically you are not a buyer yet. This guy is doing everything he can to get out of paying final value fees. I think ebay needs to keep an eye on this guy. All his big money auctions are pay on pickup. He even lists his phone number in the auction so people can call him and make other arrangements if they can't pick up the item. NO Paypal makes it harder for ebay to prove that he sold the item.
