I found the below online coin shop and was wondering if anyone had ever purchased from them, and what kind of experience you had or what you think about there prices. I am mostly looking at Single coins such as the Presidential dollars and IKEs to complete my sets, also I might get some BU examples from them for my Type set. Just wondering what you guys think about them, reviews. http://www.raykomkacoins.comThanks

Just skimming over their prices, they seem to be quite higher than I have seen elsewhere, I think you could do better somewhere else. Also most of the coins I saw didnt even include pictures. I my self would not spend a dime on a coin online without first seeing a pic of the obverse and reverse.

$10 to take a phone order?
They must be crazy if they think I'm going to pay them to take my order. They're nutty and would never get a dime from me.

I read numerous comments by people which certainly are overly polite to these TV pushers of coins readily available from many sources including the US Mint. Using the Mint as the base because it, in my opinion, is totally reliable in charging and delivery of goods bought from it. Anyone on TV selling something for precisely DOUBLE what the Mint charges and then has the nerve to even charge DOUBLE for postage is simply after your money without true exchange for a product. All the mouth about never being minted again, only so many being minted, includes a fantastic folder, authentic certification, etc may well be true but, doesn't justify the price. It does show that the old axiom of "A sucker born every minute" is DEFINITELY TRUE ! Also, I'm reminded of a trip to my local coin store and seeing GOLD State Quarters for sale. I asked the owner about these since I was not aware of any being minted [after-all, I'm a Mint subscriber so why didn't I get these]. He laughed when he told me they were brought in by someone who expected to be offered many bucks for them since they were GOLD. I laughed too when I saw they were for sale at $5, so you can guess what he paid for them. Then there are the ads in "responsible" magazines and TV stations OFFERING GOLD coins which perhaps mention once in a speed talk commercial that the coins are gold plate over bronze and not legal tender. Now they do make fine souvenirs but, only careful listening and one hears fiat declarations. Again there's that SUCKER comment. I think I've talked myself into testing the bullion recently bought from a private mint.

Since your new I'd like to say As to your original question, always remember that almost, not all, coin stores may have a web site. This just means coin dealer web sites are just web sites or representative sites for their actual store(s). As an example at the many coin shows I go to about half the dealers there are from actual coin stores or hobby stores that handle coins. When you see a web site that claims to be a store and possilby is just a web site and no store at all, it just means they are using terminology to make it sound like a real store. Not sure of the usage of erroneous terminology but I guess you can call yourself anything your want.

I have purchased a few items in the past from Ray Komka's site. The items were sent promptly and well packaged. As for charging $10 to take a phone order, it looks like they're trying to encourage the use of ordering online. It's just a business decision, nothing to get worked up about. Happy New Year all,
Darrell
