Just found this real nice 1907D Barber Half while roll searching earlier this afternoon.

Still can't believe this was in a roll of halves.

1.What do you think this would grade?

2.Worth while having it slabbed by a TPG?

3.Soak in Acetone?

Any input/ opinions welcomed!

Thanks the help.

VF+. That's an amazing coin. Full band below Liberty is necessary for EF. You are really close. I wouldn't put it in acetone. Its a 120ish dollar coin.

That's a great find from roll searching. I would also grade it VF-25. I wouldn't do anything to it, leave it as is. Red Book has it listed at $80 in VF-20.

I think it could make an EF-40 grade. The LIBERTY band is almost complete and I can make out a trace of the lower edge even at the weakest point. Faint hair detail is present above Miss Liberty's forehead, the central tail feather is outlined, and wing feathers are separated all the way to the tips of the wing. The surfaces seem free of stains or contamination so I don't see any reason to use acetone. It's a beauty, and an incredible roll find.

I still probably wouldn't invest the $30 or so it would cost to have it slabbed. I'd put it in a nice 2X2 and proudly add it to my type coin album.
Rest in Peace

You found that in a roll? INCREDIBLE. I would say VF-35+. Very close to EF but maybe not quite there.

Talk about a great Roll find! Most of use get excited if we find a couple silvers in a box of rolls you found 1 coin worth a lot more. Good Job! I would put definitely add that to any Type set.

lafaa123:

I usually go thru anywhere from 4 to 8 boxes of halfs each week- so at 50 rolls a box, 200 to 400 rolls weekly.

This coin I found when I opened the first of 2 boxes I did yesterday.

A 1969D 40% Silver Kennedy was showing on the end, so I decided to open that roll first and the 07D Barber was right in the middle of the roll.

I've been roll searching since around July/August of last year, fairly new at it time wise, but I have had great luck/success, especially finding Barbers.

This coin is my 10th or 11th Barber find, but none as nice as this one is.

*Thanks again to all for the grades/responses!*
