Anyone think there are any hot items the Mint will sell this year similar to the Lincoln Chronicles

Lincoln Dollar and Spouse come out but I don't think they will be exceptionally hot.

Penny is supposed to be changing from memorial to a shield, could be something that generates an interest

I heard the Mary Lincoln spouse coin may be a hot item when it is released this year. I don't know if it will beat out the Liberty design they had last year though

The Lincoln dollar rolls may get some play.

Is the shield design definitely the choice the mint made for the 2010 cent reverse? I know it made the short list of possible designs. Do you think they will make a 95% copper version of the shield design for collectors? I really liked the look of it when I first saw it.

I hope they never make a copper Lincoln Cent again, the future value of the 2009 coppers won't be affected.

I think the 2009 needs to stand alone.

The LSC's will be hot, they will be hoarded, but I think we will still have a lower mintage in past yrs.

I think the 5oz bullion coins will be hot also. I just hope these aren't hot this yr. 1st yr issues will be worth more then.

I agree with several thoughts above, the Lincoln dollar will probably be very popular, but definetly the new cent will be HOT! I bet they will be heavily hoarded and will be very hard to come by in circulatuion from quite some time.

Who know maybe we will see a rare variety such as the 1909 VDB / no VDB types.

I don't think the new cent is going to be produced in a copper version. I believe this was a one year deal.

The new cent should spark some interest, so should the Mary Lincoln First Spouse coin. The Boy Scout commemorative might prove to hold more interest than some may think. There are a lot of Boy Scouts and former Boy Scouts out there.

The "business strike 2009 Lincolns" were not copper, and the new "Shield" design will not be Copper either. And I doubt they will do a "special" composition again in copper for the shields in Uncirc. or Proof Sets.....

"If" they do the "Two Roll Sets" of the new 2010 Shield designs.....these "first year" coins could be hot.......in the two roll sets, Proof, Uncirculated (Mint Sets), and Silver Proof Sets, could see some "heated" activity for a short time.

A potential hot item might also be the "Boy Scout" anniversary Commemorative Silver Dollar. I expect these to be a "fairly" quick sellout......couple few weeks or so maybe.

The Lincoln Presidential dollars......yeah....they'll be plenty of folks trying to hoard a batch of the rolls.....but in the "medium-long term", I doubt they'll be much "premium" there......just an appreciation for Lincoln is all. " ebay money flippers" will have a very brief, if not completely non-existant fling with making money on selling these IMHO.

The Mary Lincoln gold spouse coin.......hmmmm.....I dunno.......I really doubt this will be "hot".....it may sell "fairly well" above some recent ones.....but I doubt it'll get to a "fever pitch mania" where it's a "profit producing" machine for any future time......aside from the potential with it being "gold".....there's IS that.

The state park Qtrs. will not be a "magnate" for me really. I'll attempt a "circulation folder" of them.....maybe even a couple of em'.....but not much beyond that.......and I certainly won't buy the Mint's "two Roll Sets" of these Qtrs. for $33.00 bucks plus shipping and handling every time they come out !...... FORGET THAT !

I am wondering If something "special" like a "Legacy Set" or "Prestige Set", or something will come out that I'm not aware of yet. .....

So.....excitement for this year at the Mint ?.......well.....for me....just a couple of things..... but not much !

(however I AM looking forward to getting a Proof ASE for 2010 !)

I buy presidential proof sets every time they come out, what do you think about those. Will they rise in price?

I don't think the new Presidential proof Dollars will rise in price. The mint produced a few hundred thousand of these in individual sets and even more for the proof and silver proof sets. I think the mintages for these coins is well over 1 million.

I put very little hope in that........in fact I'm upset that I spend $15.00 on a Proof Set of these each year. I plan to "crack" the Proof Sets at some future point and put them into a "Presidential Proof Album".....so that, at the very least, I'd have a VERY nice looking Set of these in the best condition possible, versus putting together a "bank roll" Set of them.... (which I'm doing too)
I'll be proud to have a Proof album of them when it's over......but the expense to buy the Proof Sets each year.......the cost of the album...shipping & handling for each Set.....I really doubt if I could ever get the total cost back by selling this album 10 years after the last one comes out ! But I'm okay with that....they'll always be worth at least a couple bucks each in Proof condition I hope !
The same thing applies, for me, with the new Native American dollar coin (Sac.).....except I can't get these from any bank where I live....so I can't even get "one" mint....let alone "both" mints to do an album !
The two roll sets will be something I do with these......but then I can't "break the roll" for the coins and lose the "intact" attractibility of the "US Mint Roll". Plus the premium I pay ensures that I WON'T ever unwrap a roll !
I won't do the "Direct Ship" method either.....too many coins that my bank won't appreciate me bringing to them after I only keep the 2 or 3 coins I want out of the $250.00 worth. And plus, with that, you don't know which mint you're going to get !.....and you need "both", not just one mint.

.......Yeah.....forget the "future value" of a complete BU Set or Album of Proofs of these....the important thing is that "you" like what you're collecting ! And I certainly agree.......as I said before, once complete....I will be proud to have this complete Set !
Some designs are better than others......some Presidents are more favored than others.......but overall......It'll look pretty neat !
