Hi.  I bought a $100 trillion dollar Zimbabwe note for $5AU ($5.62US) including postage and it is in mint condition. I didn't think about what the value of the note actually is because the note really interested me. Was it a good purchase and what is the value of the note? Here are some pics...   |

When I lived in Botswana in the early nineties, 100 trillion Zim dollars was worth about 500 billion pula or 250 billion US dollars. I think it's worth a little less now.

AU$5 is a fair price I think. I bought one from a dealer for AU$10.
As for "face value", all those zeroes on their money was starting to embarrass them, so Zimbabwe lopped twelve zeroes off their dollar in Feb 2009; the face value equivalent of these notes is therefore only 10 "new Zimbabwe cents", or three-hundredths of an Australian cent at current official rates.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

I agree what you paid was a good price. I purchased one in the UK for £3.20 which is around $5.12.
The 100 million cost me £1.26, 100 billion with 1 dollar note for £1.27.

We got some in at work today and I found it interesting so the boss gave me one.
We will be selling them for $5 U.S. at work though so you did just fine.
Great conversation pieces.

Apparently, I can't count - if you lop 12 zeroes off this note, you actually get New Zim$100, which equates to about 30 Australian cents at official rates. Sorry about that. its cash value is essentially nothing at the moment since the currency has been suspended by the government.
5 dollars is ok, the prices have fluctuated a bit over time but I suspect they will stay around 5 for some time to come

I just got one of these from ebay for $2.99 w/ shipping, and it also included a new (not pictured) Iraqi 50 dinar note. So I don't know the condition of the dinar note, but I was mainly interested in the Zimbabwe note. I just think it's neat. |

When I first got my Yugoslavian 10,000,000,000 dinara note I took it to my local bar and ordered a round for everyone in the place (it was a quiet night). I then gave the landlord the note saying "I'm sorry but I haven't got anything smaller!" Everyone thought it very funny but him.
