my wife and I have an opportunity to purchase a $50 gold eagle 1986 and is in MS 63 condition (ungraded, my opinion) for $1290. That seems like a very good deal to me and I am looking for feedback please! It would be greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago, that would have been a better price when gold was higher(~$1220 in early Dec) but currently it is about $150 over spot. You should be able to get one for $50-80 over spot price, the 1986 has one of the highest mintages for the entire series.

Bio is right a few weeks ago it would have been a great price but now its not. However prices will go up. it will only take time. You might want to look around MS63 seems a pretty low grade for a modern AGE (American gold eagle) most of the one that came out the tubes were MS66-70.
