hemisboats Valued Member United States 461 Posts	Posted 01/09/2010 09:24 am my wife and I have an opportunity to purchase a $50 gold eagle 1986 and is in MS 63 condition (ungraded, my opinion) for $1290. biokemist6 Bedrock of the Community United States 12437 Posts	Posted 01/09/2010 12:17 pm A few weeks ago, that would have been a better price when gold was higher(~$1220 in early Dec) but currently it is about $150 over spot. You should be able to get one for $50-80 over spot price, the 1986 has one of the highest mintages for the entire series. Report this Post to the Staff

However prices will go up. it will only take time. You might want to look around MS63 seems a pretty low grade for a modern AGE (American gold eagle) most of the one that came out the tubes were MS66-70. Report this Post to the Staff
