I am sure you nickels searchers are aware of this but I wonder why. Seems a lot of 2000 D nickels are mirror like and well struck compared to other years. Is it just me? I'm sure it has to due to die quality strike pressure and all that jazz but it just gets me how much better they look than other years. Any comments and info is welcome.

Are you serious?

I expected this post to be about the horrendously worn dies used on the 2000's. I seem to find way more of the horribly worn dies and very soft strikes for 2000 than other years.

I agree MattDrew! I'm in NC and 80% of the 2000D's would pass as proof like. I'm trying to grab a couple without any major bagmarks. When I first started couple a months ago roll searching nickels heavily, I would've swore they were proofs. occasionally a 2000P shows up like that.

maybe its just the Carolina's, it's almost irritating because they are so hard to pass up. But I cant keep them all, real nice for 10 year old coins. depends most on my mood I guess.

I agree also MattDrew I always think I can upgrade my 2000D in my Dansco but it just so happens they are all beautifully struck.

I am going to have to start paying attention to them (I am in South Carolina). I have been keeping all of my nickels for some reason, so I have a nice stash to look through.

Boy that's crazy. Wonder why we're so lucky in Iowa...lately I'd think it might be ice buildup on the coins, but really...the majority of the ones I see here are just plain bad.

That, and knowing that the metal is worth something. Illegal or not, I cringe whenever I think of someone melting them!

I am eager to go home and look through my nickels to see if any of mine appear to be proof like.
