Found this beautiful 2006P 1DO-018 last night- got all exited as to how great the Obverse looked, UNTIL I turned it over!

Reverse- by the FG Initials- disaster + ! looks like someone tried to get the green crude off of it, scratched the h*** out of the area and damaged the rim and then decided to put it back in circulation.

What do you think, still probably worth maybe a few bucks?

I would have kept it even if it was messed up. Thats the joy of hunting! I would say yes its still worth money.

It's worth keeping as an example of the die, then get rid of it when you replace it with a better example. You found this one, you'll likely find another one if you keep hunting.

Chuck:

When you mention getting rid of it, is there any premium value to sell it, or just dump it back in circulation?

*I do have 2 more that are comparable to this one, grade wise and not "messed up". :)

North Western New Jersey (Sussex County).

I've found at least 5 or 6 and sold a few over the past 2 years.

* If this will help, I have much more success from $50.00 Bags of cents from the coin counting machine at my local bank than I do with rolls.

Can't get any better than someone coming in with their coins from their piggy banks/grandpa's collection etc and dumping them into the machine!

I have first crack at anything of value in that bag as opposed to getting wrapped rolls from String & Son out of Harrisburg PA (IMHO).

It's not worth any premium in its current grade, unfortunately.

I live in Missouri and don't even see P mint cents here...and since RPMs ended in 1989, pickings are getting rather slim for anything around here. Of course I did send Numismo a box of cents from here last year and HE found a 1983 DDR in the box I sent to him....and here I've been looking for one of those SINCE 1983!
Rest in Peace

What can I say Chuck, I was very, very lucky. I guess that was my alloted biggie. I've searched hard since then with only a few minor finds including a couple of 2006P-1DO-018. I never did find out if my box to you yielded anything worthwhile.
