Eisenhower would be embarrassed if he saw the coins I got today.

My bank called me and said they had just received from their delivery- not from a customer - some silver dollars - and they wanted to know if they should hold them for me.

I of course said yes

I went to the bank to pick them up and not to my surprise all of them were Eisenhower dollars.

What did surprise me was what bad condition they were in most of them look like they had been burried in someone's back yard.

The rest - well I do not collect Eisenhower's, but if I did I would not use these as fillers in my album.

The nice part of this story is the bank was thoughtful and had my name on their call list.

Maybe next time better luck.

But am I going to have fun spending thes at local shops and toll booths.

How do you get the bank to call you when they get coins? Do you have to develop a relationship with them? Are they a small bank? A large bank? Just curious so that I may try to make some contacts.

Do what you need to do to keep that connection. You never know what might come your way later. Lucky you.

I live in a small town and have a great relationship with the local bank. I have never been able to talk them into ordering me coins(Half Dollar rolls) or putting me on a list. Consider yourself lucky! Give them to a YN.

I recently put back into circulation a roll of Ikes that I had stored in an old Silver Eagle container. They were probably in it for 20 years. When I pulled them out to look at them they had gotten really dark and crummy looking. The ones I had in paper rolls and coin tubes were fine. (note to self...don't keep Ikes in Silver Eagle containers)
