I'm sure that you had an amazing time in Africa. I visited East Africa last year and loved it. Your next trip is pretty ambitious too. Texas has got alot to offer if you've got the time. It has three out of the top ten most populated cities in the country, Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio. There are mountains, desserts, forests, grasslands, The Gulf Coast, and Mexico next door. Big Bend National park is breathtaking. Before 9/11 you could take a rickity old rowboat accross the Rio Grande and ride a burro into the small village on the Mexican side for an afternoon of impromtu fun. You might drop in and see the Mayor of Lehitas while you are out that way. The mayor is a beer drinking goat that hangs out at the local saloon. The Marfa lights, which know one can explain, are out west too. And, then there is Cadillac Ranch out near Amarillo, where some guy planted his Caddilacs in the ground with backends sticking up. The hill country in the middle of the state is really nice to visit with it's beautiful lakes, rivers and little quaint towns settled by early German immigrants. Things to see in this area are Enchanted Rock State Park near Fredricksburg, Inks Lake State Park near Llano where you'll find the best BBQ you'll ever taste at Cooper's. Luckenbach is not far away and a good place to stop in for a drink at the. This area also has numerous wineries and Bed and Breakfasts. Check out the dude ranches in Bandera. Take in the biggest and best water park in America and some good German food in New Bruanfels. The riverwalk, market square, and the Alamo are must sees in San Antonio. The Alamo city, with close to 60% of the population Hispanic, has the best Mexican food this side of the Rio Grande. Austin, the capital, is the live music capital of the US with a vibrant nightlife and a really cool college town appeal. If you get down to San Antonio, drop in and say Howdy. But check your guns at the door 'cause we ain't gonna tolerate no cuss'n and fight'n in these here parts. LOL
