I've been experimenting with the camera setup and took photos of these Mexican gold coins (I should probably find a black background for them). Just thought I'd share.

First, a Cinco Pesos coin (5 Pesos):

(0.1205 oz AU)

Then a Dos Pesos coin (2 Pesos):

(0.0482 oz AU) This one is tiny - the size of your pinkie nail. You often find this one worked into jewelry - rings, bracelets and such.

Thanks. Inventorying an old collection, these were wrapped in a kleenex stuffed in a film canister. They're so tiny the kleenex seemed empty.

Nice coins, and I agree they are tough to photograph.

I played around a little with different backgrounds and all, what I finally settled on was to raise the coins off the background and photograph them.Raising them up from the background lets your camera focus on the coin instead of the background.
