How many others are trying to collect these type of sets, like the coin and currency, coin and chronicle, coin and medal ... etc

I just won this set on ebay. I know it is not as popular as some of the other commemorative coins sets, but RedBook list this set at $150. My thought is, if I can get coins at half the price of RedBook then I do okay. Someday I hope to have most all the modern commemorative coins.
I also hope the 2011 RedBook will have more mintage information, I would really like to see a better break down as too how many jewelry box coins, and how many in the special sets like this one.

I posted this with the ebay link, but it showed more information than I wanted to show. So will try it with the pic I captured.
I won the auction for $21.09 + $4.95 S&H.

I would say you got a good deal. I live in Little Rock and thought about getting one from the mint when they came out. I think the museum here still has a few left at the original price, which is more than you paid with shipping. The coin did not appeal to me, but makes a nice addition to a commen. collection.

Thanks for the reply tepritts, after 50 reads ...I have been thinking that I might have said something wrong ..

Anyways..

Where this coin design does not really appeal to me either .. Ever since I purchased two Lincoln C&C sets from the mint, my interest in modern commemorative dollars has grown. I think coins like this, that really didn't sell very well, will really go up in value. Once more collectors start wanting to fill complete sets of modern commemorative coins. At my favorite local coin shop, sets like these sell as soon as they come in. I think my favorite of these set's are the Lewis and Clark sets, I just have not found a good deal on one yet ... but I will. And I agree .. this one does make a nice addition to my growing collection of commems.

I have the U.S. Mint "American Legacy Set" which features this Little Rock Silver Dollar (and all the other Proof coins for the year) It's really nice !
Check it out and I bet you'll agree that it would compliment, very nicely, this "Little Rock Coin & Medal Set" that you have.
This American Legacy Set cost me $150.00 issue price directly from the Mint, I believe. I don't think the value has risen on these yet......might not ever...but it's a neat Set that I'm glad I've got !
I'm not the biggest fan of the "design" either....but you're right about acquiring Commemoratives.....
For me, however, the reality of getting ALL of the Modern Commem's. for a "complete" Set......IS NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN ! So, I'll never try to get "every" one that comes out.....I'll just pick and choose from now on. In fact this year I did NOT get the "Braille" Commem. Silver Dollar", but was all over the Lincoln !
Next year I'll probably just get the Boy Scout Commem.....
But they're fun.....neat.....certainly obviously historical.....money goes to a good cause.....They're SILVER.....
More good than bad....as reasons to collect.

Thanks for the suggestion Eaglefoot,
I will check that legacy set out. Most of the time I am looking for a good deal. Trying to find coins that are under priced. I really like the idea of getting most of the modern commemorative coins. Well at least the dollars and halfs, maybe some of the gold. I kick myself for not getting some of them right from the mint, like the Indian/buffalo dollar and Lief Ericson. I think the only way to avoid the disappointment in the future, for me, is to buy all the dollars from now on.

I purchased this same set when it came out just because I thought it was kind of neet. I kind of dig the idea of something other than just the coin. I think you got an excelent deal!
