This was my first purchase from the US mint.I wanted to ask the people here if it is common practice for the mint not to say what the mintage is. Their site was saying only :"get yours fast, because if you don't you're gonna be sorry".Fine, sales pitch, but whatever,i wanted it anyway. When I got it,i would've thought that maybe inside the box will say soemthing about some sort of mintage figures..nope. I am accustomed only with Canadian mint and Australia, which, both of them are stating mintages even before releasing products.

I can't answer your question, but I'm sure someone will. I ordered my sets a few days ago, and notice they are now in transit. This year's should be especially nice in that the Statehood Quarters are some of the best so far.

I picked mine up a couple of weeks ago. I can't answer your question right now either though.
Gary: Owens picked the right choice (I think) for CO!

I like the coins Gary, and I also find the quarters very nice ( if I say the bufallo one is the best, will I sound like Terry ? ),but I was just wondering if the US mint always does this, not to say the mintages, not only for this special set, generally speaking.

I am thinking about buying a proof set. Should I buy the whole silver proof set or just the one with quarters? Which will be rarer?

Cool-from our conversations I think that you would like the whole Mint set and it would be a nice investment for you.

as far as I know they do not have a set number they will make. I think they can keep making them up to sometime in December when they start making next years set. I am not sure though I do beleave if you look at the mintage of older silver set they have different number of set minted. If I am wrong someone please correct me. Just thought that is what I have read somewhere.

My understanding is that there is no set limit for the proof and mint sets. Don

I asked the cashier at the mint and she said quote"We don't stop minting till the year is over." Does that answer everyone question

According to Numismatic News, as of May 29, sales of the silver proof set were at ~395,000.

Yes Buffaloboy, it answers my question very well indeed. It explains why there is no mintage figure included with the set.RCM does this too on some coins, but they state clearly on their site that the mintage will be on demand. With the high shippping cost associated with this set to be sent to Canada, plus the fact that I didn't really have a pleasurable experience with my first purchase from the US mint,i think i'll stick with my loonies and the Australian coins for now.
