OK time for one of my rare contests. The prize 3 different BU Pres dollars of my choice. The contest Based on the then and now pics which is me in the then pic? Explain the reason for your choice. (this should be interesting) One guess per forum member The contest will end 24th Jan 2010 20:00 where my wife will pick the winner from all the correct answers (if any)   SHAFTA9a is the winner the only correct answer so my wife did not have to pick a name from the bucket. Good idea for a contest. I'm tossing up between two. I think I will go for the young chap on the front row, with the light coloured cap. Reason: Well there is not much to go by, so I used the shape of the nose. Steve  |

G'Day, To me I will guess the bloke in the last row center.
Great idea for a contest, I will also guess that there won't be any winners.

I'm with triggersmob, the front row gentleman to the right with the lighter colored beret.
He seems to have the same smile as the later picture.
(Now an explanation of the outfit you were with at the time, please. Royal Army?)

It was an officer training exercise. Various division of the British armed forces sponsor cadet programs. Cadet candidates are selected to participate. The cadets were split up into teams and given various physical and mental tasks to perform in order to test leadership ability. This was the team I was in. At the time I was 17 and wanted to be in the Royal marines..

Cool idea for a contest! I'm going to say middle row, second guy in from the right. Same smile. And the same jaw line, I think...tough to see through that beard! |
