If you live near the bank there may be another solution; just make more trips.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

Yeah.......don't worry about buying whole entire boxes of whatever denomination. Just ask the bank for some rolls of anything. The halves they'll likely not have though. A shoestring budget can still work for roll hunting !
And as someone mentioned.....a box of Cents is only $25.00. Nickels are $2.00 a roll.......you can just ask for 10 rolls. Dimes......same way. Qtrs....same.
Just buy a handfull of single rolls from the bank......take em' home to look through......then take em' right back the next day.....nuthin' to it !

Try not to take them back to the same bank so you dont get the same rolls back. Have a pickup bank/branch and a dump bank/branch.

I use 2 different branches of the same bank. I deposit my rolls at one and then swing by the other and withdraw it again as rolls. I also started marking my rolls in case they happen to cross level rolls between branches.

Halves are searched to death around here, I don't bother for the most part, although I do have a pair of the Whitman half dollar folders I picked up I'm trying to fill with high quality examples-NOT as easy as it should be....) I will do cents and nickels. Cents are way fun. Trying to find 98 and 99 wide AMs, looking for the 2009 presidential series, sorting copper from zincolns, finding wheat cents, proof coins, super nice examples etc. Big cheap fun! Nickels are fun too, the old ones, the silver wartime issues, looking for full steps (good luck!), the westward journey series, the elusive "Speared Buffalo" (Hey, I found one, so you could too....) the occasional original Buffalo or V nickel. It's not all about the silver. Roll searching is supposed to be fun! Silver is a nice bonus, but not the be-all end-all of the hobby.

I did just what Youngfee101 suggested yesterday. My partner needed to stop at his bank, so I had him ask the teller for any halves. He came out and siad "You owe me two dollars" He also said she had another $5.50 worth in her drawer. I went in got those. Out of a total of 15, I found 1 1964 Kennedy. I did the same with nickels, picking up 5 or 10 rolls when I desposited my paycheck. I actually have a large jar I throw my pocket change into (when it's full, I roll it and depsoit it) so I just threw the coins from the rolls I didn't want into that jar. I filled a lot holes in my Jefferson collection this way.

Picked up my 1st box of nickels yesterday and although I haven't found anything of significance yet, it's still fun searching.

I'm going to pick up a box in about an hour. We've been looking forward to it all week.

I ask my bank for rolls of halves everytime I cash my pay check or go in to move money from one account to another, sometimes I get a few rolls sometimes I get quite a few rolls, and sometimes I get none, but it never hurts to ask even if they only have one roll.
