Interesting video, but in all honesty I am not that impressed. They cast five huge coins and painstakingly finished them by hand. It was an exercise with a lot of artistic work involved, but as far as the processes go, there is nothing ground breaking to me, in a technical sense.

I'm curious to know what they used to apply the "frosting". Looks like some kind of acid etch.

I also wonder if they couldn't have just manufactured a large slab of gold and CNC'd the piece and then finished it by hand.

I was curious to learn the bullion value of this beast of a coin:

1 troy ounce = 31.1034768 grams
1000/31.103 = 32.150746 * 100(kg) = 3,215.0746 Troy Ounces in 100 kg, therefore

Price of gold (1095.40 USD) * 3,215.0746 troy ounces = $3,521,792.72 U.S. Dollars
Price of gold (1158.17 CAD) * 3,215.0746 troy ounces = $3,723,602.95 Canadian Dollars
