Biokhemist is correct, these are not US colonials and actually have almost nothing to do with the US. SOME of these have been found in excavations in the US and the Dutch West Indies, but only because trade takes place all over the world so some coins intended for one area can be foun in another. These coins were intended for circulation on the other side of the world in the area that is now Indonesia. The problem is most people know New York was settled by the Dutch, and they can't be bothered to differentiate Dutch EAST Indies from Dutch WEST Indies (The Dutch were also forced out of the New York area by the end of the 17th century, almost 80 years before these coins were made.) But it seems like EVERYONE on
ebay tries to pass these off as New York colonials.
