It was my mother who got me started on coins. She also collected stamps and match books/boxes. Over time I 've managed to whittle down my various collections (books, classical CDs, cigarette boxes, beer mats, computers) to just coins and banknotes. Apart from taking up less space they are, for me, an endless source of fascination. As for my ex and current (hopefully last) wife they reckon it's better than me hanging around school playgrounds (only kidding). As I point out to them they probably spend more on beauty-care products. So.. keep on doing what you love and, as suggested by others, take a break now and then. It's amazing how quickly you'll miss it.
