I have 2 sealed mint sets from the Leningrad Mint years 1974,1975.They are toned as I understand that the packaging is known to be inferior. They are both in red backing. Any idea on value of those? I can't find any info.Thanks.

Does the 1975 set have a green cardboard box with 9 coins, 1 Kopek- 1 Ruble along with a square Leningrad Mint token? If so, I have the same set and mine have toned as well. I do not really know what it is worth but I can tell you that I paid $5 for my set a couple years ago at my local shop. I like it because it is a birth year set for me

The 74 has a green box cover and the 75 has a yellow one.I paid 10 bucks each years ago. They each have 9 coins and the mint token.

The real question is what other damage is there other than toning? As these mint sets were not packed very well, sometimes you can get fingerprints on them. Not very surprising. There might be some ugly black spots as well.

For some reason the other box does have a premium so don't throw them out. There are two rarer versions out there, one is 1976 red version and 1975 (I think) blue version. The color probably signifies mint set was marketed for a special purpose or region.

Thanks for the link GX.I haven't seen fingerprints but a couple of them do have dark rings and some spotting. They don't seem to list the pricing for the 1975 yellow box or the 74 hard case.

Most likely around 30USD each but please don't quote me on the prices.
