I decided to go out to the local park today for a dig, while I was there I popped into the primary school and found 35c in change(1999 20c,2003 10c and a 2000 5c)a couple of spoons,a broken toy car,a small sheet of lead rolled up(probably from a glazier when they used lead flashing)and scattered around 1 particular tree were these, roughly 3-5cm down.
At first I though they were welders slag,(im still thinking along those lines)but the closest structure was over 100 meters away, and remebering back to when I was a kid(it was my school 30+ years ago)i couldnt remember anything being there then. The school/park is located in the S.E of Melbourne.
One of them has a goldish sheen that made my heart go boing when it popped out of the ground, but the weight soon told me otherwise.
I'll get hold of some scales and let you know the weight.

Find things like that all the time in tot lots. Its usually bits of Aluminum that have been broken off the jungle gym. They get buried and the ground works its magic on them. Did they ring up int the Nickel foil area (Same range as gold?)

No swings(jungle gym) in the area, closest ones are next to the classroom,100+ meters away,of course it doesn't rule the possibility out,a kid could have thrown it at his friend.
I might hit one up with a tooth brush and see if they are pure metal, they do look like they are made of rock and metal but that could just be dirt.
The reading they give of skips between,1c,and junk, allthough my detector is a cheapy of ebay,it does a fine job of locating finds, just not very accurate in telling me what it could be,i dig everything up anyway, makes life easier for future hunts.
