It has some sort of crud on it that won't come off with the fingernail scratching, yet I think it would come off in acetone soak but before I did that wanted an opinion yes or no. It is in the as found condition, not sure if it is worth enough to bother with as I think this error is common. What premium (if any) would be on this dime?

from what little I know it is genuine since there is damage to the rim at 180 degrees.

First person to post here that they want this dime can have it in its present condition (uncleaned)free of charge, just send me a self addressed stamped envelope. I thought clipped planchet at first glance, but something about the curvature of the clipped area doesn't look quite right to me. I hope some error experts can chime in.

Coinhunter, I had the same concern but if you look at the photo of the reverse it looks okay,I think the lines on the obverse create an optical illusion that makes it look wrong. The Blakesley effect at 180 degrees looks right also. I say clipped planchet!
