All,

The Royal Mint is offering the 2009 and 2010 coins for £5 (face value) plus shipping of £2.95. There will be another coin in 2011 and one more in 2012.

I really don't like the designs, so I can't decide if I want to buy them or not.

Any opinions out there?

I got one of the 2009 coins, doesn't look good, isn't circulating, I got it because it was £5. It might be worth a little more later on, that is probably why I got it. I think they are selling all the olympic coins in the same packaging, so if you collect all the mint coins, it might fit into some kind of set or other!

nohope587....you convinced me that £5 for £5 is an inexpensive way to expand a UK collection of crown coins.

Hopefully, the coins will look better in hand for us than what the pictures show.

Will be happy to do a trade with you for the pair that I picked up for you.

What makes you think that the world might end in 2012?

I really wondering what London is going to do for their opening show for the 2012 Olmypics.

Well, there are some rumble mumble about the date 2012, it is a Mayan (SOuth America) prophecy. Their calendar ends at the year 2012 A.D. and they used to beliee the world is going to end by then. Would be too bad I think .:) Won't be any coins issued in 2013, they're gonna become rare for aliens who colelct "darkside" coins (Earth) .:D
