I have discovered this "rotated" nickel while roll hunting. While I am familiar with Kennedys halves being hallowed out for a Magicians coin,(I've found 4 of them before, found the seam and opened them up), I'm not sure about this one. I have looked all over for a seam and haven't found one and it sounds solid when dropped on the table (well, after all, it is circulated).
I will have this looked at and weighed by someone more knowledgeable, but can someone tell me if this is found to be real, what would it be worth being that it is modern (1995) and rotated 90 degrees as shown?,

I've learned not to be too excited thinking I have found something ( we've all been there!), but I would appreciate any input,
Thanks,
Tammy

yeah looks a shade less than 90 degrees to me too (closer to 85 - only important because many rotated collectors only collect 90 degrees or more). you could probably sell it for $10 to $15 on ebay.

Thanks for the info. I just approximated 90 degrees, I didnt mean to say it was rotated more than it was, I was unaware that 90 degrees is an important criteria.

Tls867, that looks like the McCoy! I have a "double-headed" nickel and you can definitely see the seam and tell which coin was the hollowed-out one and which one was the insert. Very nice find!

Nice find. Double check the rotation. Looks 90 to me.
Tough to find true north on the obverse on nickels. For me anyway :)
Do a layout using the horizontal line of the base of monticello for your start point.

Update: I took my rotated nickel to a coin show last week and asked dealers to look at it for authentication and found it was real...wahoo! may not be worth much, but it is to me because I found it while roll searching...I like it!

I would estimate its value at around $80. Not too shabby.

Actually, since Monticello is supposed to be upside down, I think this one is a shade over 90 deg.
