I have a 1963 circulated $2 bill I have been trying to put back into circulation, and no one will take it. One said they couldn't take any bill without the security strip, and two times they said they just can't take it. To the bank I guess.

Quote: One said they couldn't take any bill without the security strip You should have pointed out that $1s do not have a security strip either...

If its not a plastic card, the cashiers today don't know what to do.

Wow, can't even use a $2. I get odd looks sometimes trying to use them but never turned down.

Even some bank personnel don't have a clue about non current money (coin or bill). Sad.

I turned in the change jar this week due to wifes Debit card getting hacked. There was a beat up 1971 ike in the jar that Dawson might of tossed in there. The bank teller said, I couldn't change that in. "It wasn't a real dollar." I said thanks smiled and took the cash from the jar. will be back to hit her up for half dollars in a week or so.

Also point out that it is legal tender and cannot be turned down.

That is actually illegal and they could probably get in some trouble for that.

Well...my wife and I took our boys to ToysRus. My older son tried to pay for his toy with 32 Presidential dollar coins. The cashier did not want to take his coins and suggested us to pay by credit card....Finally, the manager showed up and asked the cashier to take the coins. I guess it would be difficult to use up my 500 Presidential dollar coins. My original plan is to give the dollar coins to my boys for buying toys. It seems not a good idea.

Again - they have to take them. They can put up a fuss, but cannot turn down legal tender.

local convience store run by a person of middle eastern heritage won't take half-dollars. Gave my son a roll of Kennedy's to buy gas with, he pumped $10 worth went in to pay. the guy looked at the kennedys front and back and said he couldn't take them, to come back with real money, after he did he was told not to shop there again.
