My brother-in-law was given a few proof sets and 1 mint set when his grand pop died and I recently went over to actually see what they were. This is what he has and is looking to get rid of as he has no interest in coins like so many:

coin prices from 2010 Red Book

81 proof- 9 or 375 (have to see if it's a series 1 or series 2 set)
73 proof- 11
85 proof- 5
76 proof- 10
63 proof- 16
88 mint- 9

(I could not find any prices on these, but did see some places selling them for the below listed prices)
americana yesteryear- 20
americana vanishing- 20
americana presidents- 19 (rough)

should I pull the trigger on them?

When buying I wouldn't go by Red Book prices, I would look at completed auctions on ebay to gauge the prices better.

Not alot of money in them andrew..I would put the cash out. I don't know much about the last three but I think you could do all right by busting them loose and offering the coins separately.Just my thoughts.

I went to the online site where I buy a lot of proof coins and here are the prices he has for the sets you have listed. He also has low shipping or free shipping depending on order.

1963 - $16
1973 - $7
1976 - $8
1981 - $7
1985 - $6
1988 - $6

As for the other coins "Americana sets" most on here would have to see the condition of the coins in each set to determine what a good price would be. Prices would very a lot depending of grades of each coin.

I was thinking about busting the coins out of the americana sets because they're almost impossible to find prices on...the 1st 2 in the series (yesteryear & vanishing classics) are in good shape, but the presidents set is pretty rough.

do you mind sharing the site you buy your proof coins from?

I've bought coins from Bobby before and he provides top shelf service and nice coins but his stuff is priced on the high end of the spectrum on ebay.

His coins on the web site I think are cheaper than his buy it now price on E bay.

I do agree if you really look, you can find a cheaper price on E bay.
But I do like his large selection and good service, also the coins I have got so
far have been in like new condition.

I just ordered 9 different commemorative dollars for $199.00 free shipping.
