What do you think is a fair price for buying a 2006w 20th anniversary eagle set (3 coins)? And also, is it worth it too have the set certified? Edited by benchede 02/20/2010 1:16 pm

If you get it and show some pics the experts could tell you whether to send it off or not.In March Coin prices it's listed at 310 for the 3 piece set.If they have more than one I would be very picky on the quality.

I'm mainly concerned with the 2006w reverse proof coin in the set. I was just wondering if buying that set is worth it (just for the reverse proof). Thanks for the info.

The reverse proof is only in the P set.The w is the burnished set.The 3 coin set in my book has no mint mark. The others are 1 coin so.............

Buy the set certified with all original US mint packaging. I would not have it certified.Check coin shows, that way you may be able to have multiple chance to buy at one place. Check ebay and on line sellers to get an idea of the pricing. Good luck.

In Coin Prices Magazine the Reverse proof is not in the w set. I don't know.

In a show I was watching last night the reverse proof was in the 3 piece mint sent, all original, but they wanted $500. That sure seems high to me. Is that price average?

I am not sure what is being said, but to be clear. The 20th Anniversary set has 2006 W Regular proof 2006 W Burnished Uncirculated 2006 P Reverse proof
I had to go look at mine to be sure, I believe I paid $100 plus $5 shipping when issued. Last time I looked they were selling in the low $300 range. I think to send them in for grading they have to be in the unopened mint shipped box, then they would be put into a special 3 coin slab. Otherwise they would be put into regular individual slabs.

OK. So what would be a good price for this set now? I have no idea.

In my opinion, a good price for the set at current pricing is at $250.

It's best to buy it uncertified and only in the original packaging. As a former employee at a coin shop, believe me it's better uncertified. To the Wholesalers the buy prices are about the same for either. If you intend to sell it don't spend the extra dollars to certify!

As GoldRush58 stated, the set containes Proof W, Uncir. W and Rev Proof P. I picked it up for $300. Sure is a pretty set. Was that a good price?

benchede I think $300 is a very fair price. If you shopped around .. or found a really good buy on ebay you might get it a little cheaper .. but you never know if something will go wrong or the quality might not be as good. If you got a nice looking set and your happy with it then I think you got a good price. At one point they were up to $450- $500. I think they have settled in the low $300's and hope start a slow climb back up.

I bought 20 of these sets (with 2 addresses) from the mint for 100.00 a piece and gave most of them out for Christmas presents. I think the price has stuck around 300.00 since their release for the whole set. If you want the reverse proof the only way to get it is the set or individually that came from the set because it was the only coin not offered by the mint by itself that year
