So you're the one that won that Ike. Hehe. No joke. I was watching this one last night with a minute to go. Then I started talking to my wife about something, look at my phone and there's only 3 seconds left. No time to put in a bid. What was your max bid? I was going to go $20. Even though it's artificially toned I still like it. Very cool colors.

I thought I would share some more pictures and some of my observations on the 1973 Ike roll I just acquired. To those who have gone through mint sets for years this is probably nothing new, but what was surprisingly awesome to me was how clean and lustrous these coins were once I got them out of their original mint cellos. They looked completely dull and lifeless in their cellos. I could tell after opening them that the cellophane was very hazy and dingy, after years of just existing in storage somewhere. I was pleasantly surprised. I've purchased '77 and '78 rolls like this before, but those coins weren't lustrous and minty like these 73s. The difference is significant. There were a couple that had very clean fields on the obverse. That is, there were no major hits or nicks. Every coin had some degree of hairline marks, especially around the periphery, but these were only noticeable at certain angles. The reverses on all the coins look darn near flawless. To give you an idea, here are examples of the Philly and Denver issues from this roll:   Now in their new home:  Anyway, I'm inclined to be on the lookout for more 1973 rolls like this.  ... I was wowed by the clip and then I looked closer. ...but the wow factor did not totally die since those cins are in such beautiful condition. What kind of a grade would a piece like this get? @SilverStacker Personally I like very few tones coins - especially silver. They can be beautiful, but I don;t like that they are actually deteriorating. But that first Ike is really beautiful. Most of the toned coins sold by kryptonitecomics are AT, but I still like his offerings. I don't mind AT Ikes, but Morgans are another matter. If done right, an AT Morgan can still be attractive and look close to natural, but there is almost always something off about the progression. I am definitely more forgiving about AT Ikes than AT Morgans. I guess it's a double standard for me. Oh well. So, what was your max bid? Quote:

This is a 1971 S Silver Proof Ike that I bought on ebay. Looks like it sat in an envelope for a while
