I rechecked the 71 S. I think you may be right. Looks like a small finning error. However since it is still in the packaging it is difficult to say for sure. I plan on removing the coin when I order some new holders. I will double check it then.

Question for all CCFers

All (other) things being equal

How much (if any) do you personally value FINNING errors?

Very much a DCAM, SSK. I picked up this Ike for its color potential. It has a wonderful purple-blue color streak on the reverse. The entire coin is toned to a light golden hue. It appears that the reverse toning is shifting from the first cycle (ending in light purple) to the second cycle (blue). I hope it progresses nicely. I have a few Ikes that continue to tone rather well in storage.

Here is a color progression chart for cycles 1 and 2. This Ike has all the colors of cycle 1, with the color streak containing purple from cycle 1 and blue from the beginning of cycle 2, although the blue color in the streak is lighter. This is what I think is happening, anyway. It's fun to theorize.
