GLB49 Bedrock of the Community United States 26598 Posts	Posted 09/25/2023 2:58 pm Several years ago a coin shop owner told me that back in the day the mint produced larger quantities of proof sets. But they ended up with too many sets that didn't sell so each year they started producing fewer sets. The result was that newer sets were more valuable than older sets because of quantity available. Earle42 Bedrock of the Community United States 10048 Posts	Posted 10/04/2023 2:31 pm One of our members GR58, several years ago, was working at a coin shop where the owner told him to break up a very large number of proof sets and cash them in at the bank. GR58 mentioned it on the forum and I got a bunch of proofs at face value and added them to my sets. Before that time I did not collect proof coins as part of a set.
