Charles, Very cool project putting together a roll of them From the picture It definitely looks like a possibility of a Denver Mont coin Struck on a San Fransisco rejected Proof Planchet. Can't wait until you find out I agree with Aregentum Show us the reverse Terry

Finally getting around to using my new camera, here is my Bicentennial Silver Proof from my 7070; I have not gotten the Proof images down yet...slight reflections on the date and motto.

I thought somebody previously indicated that Type I's were made in 1975 and Type II's were made in 1976? Does anyone know the seperation between Type I and Type II of the overall mintage of these (1976-S Silver Proof: 3,998,621)? Why doesn't the TPG'ers indicate which Type reverse these are on the insert? ...or does the submitter have to pay "extra" for that?

Come to think of it, I want to say that the SF mint ONLY struck the bicentennials with the Type I reverse.
Stewart probably knows if I'm right.

Guys, Good question about the Type 1 and Type 2 1976 Ike's I had to dig some out to see for myself. For some reason that little tidbit did not stay in my head I found both Type1 and Type 2 for the 1976 D Ike's so I am assuming and please do not quote me. That Philadelphia did the same thing making both Type 1 and Type 2's In Copper-Nickel. San Fransisco would be the only one to make them in 40% Silver. Also I wanted to share a recent addition with the group. I Love the Reverse

Quote: I thought somebody previously indicated that Type I's were made in 1975 and Type II's were made in 1976? That is correct. This is supported by the Clad Proof Set mintage numbers matching the Clad Proof Eisenhower mintage numbers for each year. Quote: Does anyone know the seperation between Type I and Type II of the overall mintage of these (1976-S Silver Proof: 3,998,621)? All of the 40% silver Bicentennial Eisenhower dollars, proof and uncirculated, are Variety 1.

Searching "Post an Ike"
jbuck suggested to try the Google search above the cc forum search form. This works so well I think I'll just begin searches there! For example: "post an ike" wiles brought up all the posts with Dr Wiles name present. Thanks jbuck - Jim

CaptianFwiffo posted a great picture of the REV (reentry vehicle) contrail on the 1972 type 2 Ike, here. I was beginning to believe they didn't exist. What a photo! - Jim

The contrail is on my 1971-D FEV.

Also, the Type 1 Bicentennials have a different obverse than the Type 2- many folks overlook this fact.

nice looking coins in this thread! I recently started asking for these at the bank, and yesterday got my first hit when I saw one sitting in the teller's tray. I bought it, and it turned out there were 2, so I got them both. Nothing special, but exciting to finally find a couple out there!
