When I was a kid, we used to go over to grandma's house. She worked at a coffee shop. Just before we left each visit, she would pull a bowl from the cupboard which contained all of her "weird coins" from customers. We would gather around the table and she would pass them out to my brothers and I.

I remember lots of Franklins and Ikes. Unfortunately, we found too much joy spending those coins. These three are the only survivors which I saved all these years.

In the end, having some is better than having none. Very nice!

So this summer, me and my grandfather were looking through the contents of his safe.

In the safe, he had stored five Ikes that were a tad beat up and had become slightly corroded. They stayed out of the safe when we put everything back in.

After forcibly swapping them for dollar bills and spending the Ikes, here was my christmas present to Grandpa:

Five better Ikes for his tribute to his mother in 2x2 and Ziploc bag protection! He loved them, and put them in the safe this afternoon.

Well, my bank just happened to have 2 rolls of Ike's and offered them to me when I asked for half dollars.

Among the many clashes and the DDR I also got these 2 1973 (one P, one D).

Wow, two NIFC finds! I am glad you were able to rescue them from circulation.

The 73 D Looks Amazing
I have not found any at a bank in over a year now.

IndianGoldEagle,

That is one fine looking 76 S Type 1 Thank You for sharing it

does the top arm of the "E" in WE on the 76 S Type 1 look kind of short to anyone else ?

looking over some the more recent posts inspired me to
dig out some Ike's that have not been gone over yet.
Thanks Guys
After a few minutes I ran across a decent 1972 D Talon Head
Thought I would share it with the group.

Thanks jbuck,

It is also my first variety found in 2013. I marked it on the
2x2 when I packaged it up
