Today I sent in a 1976 3 pack silver set where each coin was a shot MS-68. I think the Ike might go MS-68+. Here's to hoping for a big fat payday. *wink*

Charles, Congratulations on the 3 pack find. Hard enough to find one coin in a 3 pack that is that nice. But to find 3 Wow I wish you the best of luck in obtaining the 68+ on the Ike. That would be really cool. Let us know how it comes back

that three pack went out with a 1972 Type 2 in MS-65 and a 1972 Type 2 in MS-64 (CAC) for regrade, and a 1973-D in MS-66 that is a MS-67 trapped in a lower holder. Hopefully all that Ike awesomeness in a row will help make PCGS's job easier in getting it right. Here are two non-processed (color corrected) images of the 76.

Is it a mint packaged set with one from each mint (P, D, and S)? Will the TPG place them in one holder or each in their own slab?

One of my first thoughts when I see an Eisenhower with that strong of a Strike and that kind of Luster along with No apparent hits or nicks and clean fields It is a darn shame that the grading services do not just grade each individual coin on its own technical merits. If they did I think people would be amazed at what that 76 Ike might come back with. Compare the shots of that Ike with some shots of some Graded American Silver Eagles
Just My Humble opinion

stewart: Quote: the grading services do not just grade each individual coin on its own technical merits Could you explain this to me please? I had no idea this was how they handle coins - I am still learning a about grading/slabbing. I have not personally liked the systems since they started until recently when I saw they have a use as an authentication system.

Ikes are just picked on by the TPG's, and finding them in high grades is tough. If TPG's started grading the series like they should, then previously graded coins would be called into question. The coin we're talking about looks like a legit MS68+ or maybe even 69 to me, but I'd be willing to bet that it will come back an MS67.
