This set was started by my grandfather when he was alive whether he knew it or not. I picked the nicest of the 71, 71D, 72 & 72D from the stash he left which are on the 1st page as well as the Friendly Eagle Variety that you see on the last page. I saved another roll just because and then used the rest to acquire the other friends in the album. I will hopefully add many more completed sets to my collection over the years but I have a feeling this one will always be my favorite.

Very nice set you have Merc Man!
I just picked up 105 Ikes at my bank, but they are pretty beat up, and no silver.

Anybody know of any albums that have slots for the '71 D FEV, '72 all three types, and both bicent types? I'd love to buy one.

Here's a quick snap of a T2 I got from my dealer today, out of $100 in ikes he sold to me for face... I'm his go-to-guy for dumping crap he doesn't want. I'll go back tomorrow and throw him $10 extra for the T2 and he'll be happy. :)

My Eisenhower dollar album is a Whitman from the 70's. It only has two pages and goes through 1776-1976 variety two. An obsolete album with two years missing from the series.

This original mint purchase from 1972 has not fared well in my travels.

Congrats Mercman! Now, start a complete IKE Peg Leg series..fun to do, and, not an easy task, especially the proofs(my 1974-S Clad Proof "Eskimo Boot" Peg Leg is the Plate Coin in the "New" Eisenhower Book..Silver Proof Peg Legs are the hardest of all to find, IMHO, as most have serif "remnants", and do not qualify
The IKE Book is published by Lulu Press, and is a MUST have for collectors(Rob E's writing style and scientific thinking is worth every penny(I was lucky to grab a "Limited Edition" copy, signed by all IKE GROUP members, and a bonus CD Rom, with contents also in there(my 74-S "Eskimo Boot" Peg Leg is in the "Mud Room" Chapter)

Thanks guys. While I have always had an appreciation for the large dollar coins this set will always be very special to me because of who started it. I have really enjoyed learning about the Eisenhower dollar on this journey and look forward to learning more as I continue to collect them.

I have spent some time today going through about 1000 Ikes. I'm not very good at spotting the 1972-P Type 2. I hope someone can confirm that I found one. Please let me know what you think. Thanks.

Bingo Murph, you got one. You mean to tell me you've been searching these things for a while and you haven't been looking for T2's? Screw silver, T2's are worth more than some beat up common date morgan or peace.

I have only been saving the better looking Ikes. The ones I think will go MS. That's why I need to get better at grading. I am finally getting around to taking a closer look at the 72's. Since this is the first confirmed one I have something in hand to compare them to. Thanks for the quick confirmation.

No problem Murph. Since we are two in the same boat with searching Ikes, feel free to drop me an email anytime to discuss things.
