Hi, this is a penny that I found in a roll from the bank. I took a picture of a normal sized penny beside it. Any comments would be appreciated, thanks.

It looks like it has spent some time in a dryer.

I have seen similar coins that were compressed with a collar. Notice how the rim is expanding......

I would certainly save it.It is a mint error.Don't know much about Canadian coins but probably doesn't happen often.

It is NOT a mint error, this coin has been altered. The rim has been rolled inward, notice how much closer it is to the lettering than a normal coin.

That is what I meant, it is compressed.....after it left the mint

It looks similar to a dryer coin but it appears too nice to have been done by random tumbling action. I believe that the rims have been hammered or otherwise turned inward intentionally.

Can it be done with a vise without flattening the rim edges?I've never seen it before.
