I am planing on buy a 1954 & 1956 Franklin half dollars. Those are the years that my wife and I were born. While looking around E-Bay this morning I came across this listing.....

http://cgi.ebay.com/1956-Franklin-H...66_W0QQitemZ390161166107QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCoins_US_Individual?hash=item5ad76aef1b

Could someone please explain to me what Ty-Type-2 means? I checked my RedBook but they do not show it. Thanks,

Here's what I found, should it be of any help; got it from here: http://www.stellacoinnews.com/index...alysis-1956/ ...

"Early in the 1956 proof run, the mint switched to a new "Type 2" reverse design, where each feather in the neck of the eagle is well defined. There were other minor changes in the definition of the Liberty Bell as well. The Type 1 reverse makes up no more than 5% of the proof mintage for 1956, making it far more scarce in every grade than the Type 2."

PS: That's a PCGS coin; here's the link to their Price Guide on these ... http://www.pcgs.com/prices/PriceGui...+Half+Dollar

Uh oh, I see that, neither would they open for me. Here, try them this way (...I'm thinking a stray character might have somehow sneaked into the former formatting):
