Alright, a 1878-S that has a lot on it...
Double Liberty, Broken #4 Left Star, open G, broken R, and maybe a RPM, or is it just damage on the S?

Does anyone know which one this may be? I tried looking but found none that matched up with everything.

can we see a full obverse and reverse picture? 1878 VAM's are my specialty is why I ask, there may be other things what will help attribute it that you are missing

from the pictures I am almost positive enough to say its a VAM-2

VAM-2= Reverse:B2b-Same as B2a, but with die fill in the arm of R in TRUST which results in TIUST. (A hub break since it also appears on some 1878-P 7 TF and 1878-S) Some specimens show a die fill on top of the G in GOD seperating the loop from the stem. Some specimens show a die break through the berry and leaf in the wreath under N in UNITED.

The Obverse is the same as the one on the VAM-1

Obverse:II 1-Normal die of 1878-P type II with broken point off number 4 star on the right and 7 in the date doubled slightly on the right side (a hub defect). Some specimens show a die gouge through IB of LIBERTY

atleast thats what it looks like to me

the only thing in the book about the MM is that it is either shifted left or right or its high and neither of those seem to be the case with yours so I dont know what caused that, maybe someone else will chime in with an answer on that one
