it pays to be nice to people.
they know I am unemployed and that coins have a lot to do with paying the rent.
even after getting banned from half searching I still drop by the bank to chat with the tellers.
and sometimes get a little bonus to take home.
holidays I treat them all to fresh baked pies OR whatever I can afford to do for them.
SO BE NICE EVERYONE!

Searched my first box of dimes, no silver. I did pull three Canadians (newer) and 3 dimes that were completely black. It wasn't paint or dirt, is this a lamination error? I'm new to coin roll hunting so trying to learn whats what!

Cruiser hang in there I do half dollars and dimes.
To me dimes are the best because out of 6 boxes each week I usually average one silver per box.
You may want to spread the coins out and not just edge search, I think I would have missed a few if I only checked the edges.
Some of the black ones end up being silver.

$100 in CWRs. A couple of 70s Canadians and a 1953D Roosevelt.

Searched by 2nd box of dimes the other day, all bank wrapped rolls. Nothing but 4 Canadians...I am really hoping my next box has at least 1 in it.
However, dimes are not a complete loss. Ran into a local auction and scored on a lot of 15 Roosevelts and 1 Mercury for just below silver value.

I decided to try dimes so I picked up a $1000 bag from the bank. Lets see what happens.  Update The bag yielded a 1961 & 1964 Roosevelt Edited by trapper

Those are very nice Mercuries! I almost always get skunked on dimes. I have found nothing so far (30 rolls). I did keep the USD though. Our government pulls the silver and replaces them with steel :-(

Our government pulls the silver and replaces them with steel :-( If I were in Canada, here's how I would do it - pick up at least $1,000 in dimes, (only way it's worthwhile to me, due to gas costs), get a decent magnet, dump the coin and drag the magnet over them, leaving the silver to collect. When I listen to LED ZEPPELIN...so do my neighbors...

But where am I going to get that strong and big of a magnet? I ordered a set on ebay made of rare earths but they are the ones that kids play with under the desks to move water bottles. If its the size of a thimble will it work? |
