with a smaller magnet, you would have to make several passes, and anything that sticks isn't silver so put it to the side and keep doing it until you have none left that stick.
if you have old hard drives that dont work, those are rare earth magnets and pretty strong when you get them out. same with old VCRs and stuff like that. maybe you have some place that has junk near you you could salvage them from?

Just finished a box of dimes. Don't know if I'll get another for a while. A few nice upgrades for 80's and 90's.
The surprising thing was the large number of 2010D through 2013D uncirculated in this box.

1 bag yieded 4 silver - including 1945 mercury - very average bag if not for the mercury. Always nice to find those.

Yooper you took the words right out of my mouth.
I search six boxes each week.
Last week 1 1964
First 2 boxes this week 0
Usually average 2-3 per box.
But in the last 2 weeks I have seen an increase by the number of beautiful looking 2009-2013 dimes. Also no Canadian dimes in the last 2 weeks, usually at least 5-10 per box.

Bought a coworkers loose change to go thru. Had approx $15 in dimes and pulled a '64. Not too bad at all.

I sound like a broken record at times, but I do love proof finds.  It is like a rescue. Unlike silver, they were never meant to circulate. |

Went through 6 boxes this weekend...Nothing at all.
Cut back my order to 4 boxes of dimes for the next few weeks.

One box of dimes at work today yielded 6 silver dimes, all Roosevelts: 1952D, 1961, 1963D, 1964, 1964D(x2). Two were in the same roll. This is my biggest haul so far! I'm debating whether or not to trade them in to the LCS for junk value, since I'm generally not into dimes. The 1964 is a keeper for sure though.

The last $1000.00 bag of dimes I did was $69.30 short.  I should have weighted it before I cut it open but I forgot. A $1000 bag should weight around 49 lbs. It weighted 46lbs, 12oz. I asked the manager of the bank if I could weight the bags before I pay for them. She said no problem, she is very cooperative and sweet. So next time I will take my digital scale with me  it is very accurate. |

All I have is a mechanical postal scale. Is a digital one worth it? I hate batteries, so would want something that plugs into the wall, but haven't found anything that goes to 1/100th gram that does that except battery powered. What kind of scale would you use to weigh a bag of dimes?

Believe it or not it is a digital bathroom scale
and it is accurate I checked it out. You could not weight 1 dime by itself but for a whole bag it works great.
