Found a 64-D in a Coinstar on 6/25... yesterday found a 2009-P in a roll... haven't been doing a lot of dimes (or quarters) of late. I've been focused on Halves, Nickels, and Cents...

Grime5, I search dimes on semi regular basis whenever I can get hand rolled ones. I haven't had much luck in boxes only have pulled 1 silver out of 5 boxes searched past month or so versus 10+ out of hand rolled dimes of the same dollar amount. Although today when I stopped at bank I asked for rolls of dimes the teller pulled out 3 hand rolled ones out of her drawer she had and I asked if she had more and she said she would have to get more out of the vault and she did, she was very nice to go out of her way to do that for me and she came back with Loomis rolls not hand rolled but I accepted since she went out of her way, I just got through them $200 worth and got 2 silvers 1964d and 1954.... which is great odds for me considering they are machine wrapped, so I suggest if you can get hand rolled dimes that is the better way to go at least I have had better luck with them.
For anybody who searches dimes a few I have found have been quite black tarnished, they are readable but don't look very good in a book esp when they are hole fillers. I know cleaning a coin can be a big no no, so I'm wondering if anybody else cleans them or just places them in their book like they are? Any suggestions?

The good news: I found a nice BU 1983-D and 2009-D yesterday in 6 rolls... unfortunately, the rolls were a net 7 coins short. One CWR had 51 coins, another 44, and a MWR had 48.

CoinRumbles, sometimes you can get some of the grime off if you dip them in alcohol, or a non-abrasive dish soap. Personally, I don't mind the black color unless the coin itself is just completely black... do you have any pictures of them?

Quote: The good news: I found a nice BU 1983-D and 2009-D yesterday in 6 rolls Very nice! I still need a 2009-D for my set. I do have some change coming from the west coast family this month. I am optimistic for that and some 2016 finds.

My first 4 rolls of dimes yielded a 1960 d. Not a week later on the lobby of my high school I found a 64 D dime on the floor. Since then I have gotten a 46 s and 53 d from coinstars but nothing can compare to finding free silver on the floor.
