Both of those stories sound really wierd... do you think the company has the time to look through millions of halves?

I can't imagine the banks or the vault companies allowing tampering of sealed bags. Imagine the potential liability there.

I was making a joke - describing coin roll hunters. Yes, "they" are culling silver and "they" is us. There's always rumors about Brinks or whoever taking out all the silver, yet people keep finding it. The reason why there is less and less is because we're the ones pulling it out of circulation.

exactly! lol. everyone is always mentioning less copper finds in pennies, and less silver for the other hunters. it's simple, we are the ones reducing the numbers because we are taking all of it.

No one appreciates my humor either. Don't forget, there will always be silver dumped into circulation. Always.

Did 400$ worth in dimes today and pulled 3 64's. I am thinking about putting a Dansco set together from circulation.

I'm mostly roll searching dimes right now. I was skunked on the last two boxes. I'm impressed with your finds for the year fistfulladirt. How much was metal detecting and how much was roll searching?

Thanks mdj. My totals for the year are:
101-40%, 7-%90 halves CRH ($7,820), 1-Walker MD
72 rosies, 7 mercs, 11 canadian CRH ($9,250)
7 rosies, 12 mercs, 1 canadian, 1 Barber dime MD
3 silver Washingtons, 1 SLQ, MD
1865 2-cent, 2 Large cents, 4 IH MD
About 100 wheats dug
Crh'ing is secondary to my metal detecting passion..

That's a very cool old token mdj, I've searched over $100,000 in dimes and have never found one. Congrats!

You're right on that. People who are searching now may leave behind a hoard that will be dumped into circulation in 20 years or something by their children or relatives. However, finding a silver dime of any kind then will be like finding a Mercury dime. Possible, but somewhat rare. And Mercuries will be like Barbers. And Barbers will be like seated liberties. And so on. But we have yet to find a Seated lib yet.
