Was doing a little half searching today and found a 1990 S. The only thing is, the entire obverse is scratched as if with a knife or key purposefully. Man, why would anyone do that?

It's a shame. I once came across a 1921 high relief Peace dollar that was in mint condition, except it had MS scratched into the field in front of the face.

Contrary to what my scanner produces, the scratches are definitely there but it is still very much proof like (mirror) where there aren't scratches. And might I add the reverse is untouched?

What a bummer. Maybe a MAD girlfriend?

Cap'n, that's a shame about the Peace dollar, too. Had to record it's grade somewhere I guess.
