Hey, I am trying to purchase a 1941 liberty walking and a 1929 Standing Liberty quarter. I have found someone selling me both, here are some pics of them. Can you tell me what a good price would be for both shipped as well as what you would grade the coins as. I know these are common dates but I am looking at these coins for my 7070. Are they worth it? Thanks! pics underneath Edited by needgames4lyfe 03/18/2010 11:26 am

The SLQ looks like it might have some pitting on the surface (corrosion?) and the WLH I would guess is in the VF-XF range, so not much more then melt. I would say you probably are looking in the area of $10-$15 shipped.
PS I am noticing that the photo is a 1926S SLQ and your thread title is 1929 SLQ. My comments are valid for the 1926S.

I'd say that the 26S is in G-VG condition, not a terribly difficult date to find in VF with a little research.
The Walker looks pretty nice.......other than the ding below the date on the rim on the obverse. Again though - not a tough date.
I wouldn't pay more than $12-15 shipped for the two, and would honestly look for better examples.

hey, the seller is selling it for $25, which is clearly not a good deal. Do you guys know where I can find that for the 12-15 price range you guys are talking about? Are there any good reputable online stores?
thanks!

Most sellers are gonna want a little more than $10 for a Walker of that grade, but I think you can do much better. Maybe it is just the lighting, but the Walker looks a little off. With some patience, you can get an AU Walker coin for great eye appeal for about $20. but you can still do better than that by spending $10-$15 on a Walker.
No more comments necessary on the SLQ. :)

It would be tough to get at that price shipped, but if you have a nearby coin shop or similar, you have a pretty good shot at finding one for $7.50

Yes, *if* you could get a problem-free EF Walker shipped to you for $7.50, it would be good. But getting one that isn't damaged (scratched, heavily cleaned, big rim ding) at that price is the challenge.
( edit ) Are you looking at a seller here on CCF? If so, just ask him some questions about the coin.

Both coins are common examples and so I think $20 with shipping for the two, or $15 for the Walker. Strictly speaking (not counting pecuniary value), the Walker's a nice coin if it hasn't been dipped. EF45. Without the ding, and supposing it's problem free, it might be a 50. But that's w/o the ding. It was well struck. You can see that the hand used to be there, the features in the face and cap are sharp. The sun's rays are bold. There is the predictable line of wear on the eagle's left/right diagonal, but there is still lots of feather detail. I've seen coins graded far higher than that that had less feather detail on the leg. Except for one thing: the color looks a little weird. Maybe it's the photography, but I wouldn't be surprised if somebody dipped in during the last 60-70 years. The quarter looks quite common and I wouldn't want it. I'd wait for a sharper example of that date. and a FAR sharper coin for a type set.

One final question: how much would this coin be worth?
