one side has thick edge and the other has no edge and the thickness of dime is not the same all the way around dime

You do need a camera....and I've found that relatively cheap digital cameras with 5 - 7 megapixels are adequate provided they have a "MACRO" setting. You need a MACRO setting on your camera to take good pictures of coins.

I use a 3.2MP camera and think it does a good job for posting on websites
