I have noticed that a lot of nickel-brass coins, such as those of Jamaica and British West Africa, suffer from very oddly colored spotting & staining. What causes this? Is it merely indicative of corrosion caused by moisture and/or chemical in soil or is this composition just really prone to red and grayish spots?
P. S. How would you grade my 2 Shillings of British West Africa that suffers from this very condition? Thanks!
