1917, most likely from the scans. The shield rivets do seem a bit weaker than the norm though......

Just to put things into perspective (I know perspective sucks...), out of all the Variety I SLQs minted, there were only 52,000 1916s. On the other hand, there were around 12,000,000 Variety I 1917s minted (P, D & S).

The odds of stumbling across a 1916 are a bit large...

(BUT Nod2003 and Johnny54321 seem to have successfully done so lately!! So, there's hope for us all!)

Rest in Peace

I'm still waiting(and praying) on mine. Normally I would say the odds are a LOT worse because I'd think most of the 1916s would have immediately been plucked; BUT, it seems like the diagnostics used for identifying them aren't all that well known(both mine and Nod's dealers knew nothing about how to identify dateless 16s); so I'd say you still have a good chance.

Another thing to remember, if you do find a 16 in a lot that you post, and that lot hasn't ended yet; you will be putting your "find" at large risk. I think most established members here would have the integrity not to bid on your "find", but there are a lot of roamers who will probably jump on it and bid it up. :-) I do think it is a dateless 1917 though.

That seller sells ALOT of those lots of SLQ's.......must've had a massive hoard.

I've never bought from him/her.....but you never know what you may find I guess.
Rest in Peace

You don't want to buy from them. Trust me, it's all junk.

by obviously placing a type 1 in each lot, it helps acquire a better sales price because there are likely hundreds, if not thousands of us hoping to trip over a 1916 like nod and johnny did.
