I have been looking at some of his coins and had a question. Has anyone here bought PCGS or NGC coins from him? I ask this because some of the pictures of his PCGS or NGC (with the TPG name in description) coins do not look to be in slabs but have a felt black background...would this mean an ex-pcgs or was it just pictured before it was slabbed?

If anyone has any experience with this seller please enlighten me. I figured I would ask here first before contacting the seller.

If it says they are PCGS or NGC then they will be graded what they have listed by those companies. I have bought plenty of coins from HJB and have been pleased with each and every purchase. They are one of the dealers I check when looking for a particular thing and if they have what I am looking for that is usually where my search ends.

I have bought 40+ coins from HJB and I have always been happy. They seem to have reasonable prices and great customer service.

I've bought a few coins from them & have been happy with the coins. I haven't been extremely happy with the prices as they approach high retail. What can I say, I'm cheap.

Price is high, but get what you pay for. A premium dealer.

I guess allot of you do not visit some of the dealers I visit when looking for coins because in just about every instance HJB prices are allot cheaper than the others I go to. I even did an experiment with him. I ma sure everyone knows how much I hate problem coins but I purchased some coins from HJB where he had described as "lightly cleaned" and 3 out of the 4 I could see no signs of cleaning at all and on the 4th one it took my microscope to see any traces

I visit the store when I get downtown. If the coin is advertised as slabbed, it's slabbed. They have a lot of slabs on display in the case. Some very high end stuff.

I usually buy foreign coins there (last being a 1559K Francois II silver teston), but have gotten a few walkers and other misc. US coins over the years. The grade is fair and they point out which coins have been cleaned. Sometimes the on-line pictures hide the distinctive shine of a cleaned coin.
