It to me is like a ball game, last inning, 2-outs 3-balls and 2 strikes, it could either be a hit or a swing and a miss.

I have watched the whole game and awaiting the outcome, I just hope this does not turn into a "strikeout", for the big loss........We will see.

I have the quarter and it checks out. There's no question about its authenticity and the weight is indeed 4.5 grams (I'll get a more precise weight later). The coin has the look of copper-nickel and the "ring" is consistent with a thin, solid copper-nickel blank. The coin looks dark beneath a thin sheet of kleenex, which is also a sign of a copper-nickel composition. Just to be sure, I'll still be doing a specific gravity test later this week. The blank had a rough surface prior to the strike. I call it a blank rather than a planchet, because the edge was not smoothed out by the upset mill. I will definitely write this coin up for Coin World.

The coins used are not real. My wife bought me this for Christmas a few years ago. Its possible someone broke open one of these and spent the money.

I won't be doing the specific gravity test until Wednesday or Thursday. It takes about 20 minutes to do it properly.

Well there is a date to look forward to for "some results."
724 reads to this topic? To me, things like this are what this hobby is all about, anticipation, anxiety, excitement, amazement, and happiness all in one great experience, Numismatics. What ever the results, we love things like this because we live to find that more coin or error, well some of us anyway!!!

I would like to know the odds of this "mystery coin" being a silver "blank", I thought I knew what silver sounded like.
I feel this coin will prove to be an oddity at the least, till later this week........

While it was very kind and generous of Mike to do this for me,and I certainly appreciate his expertise and devotion it is not an every day occurrence for an expert to do a test/report on any of my coins......

Richard's sure looking like the party-pooper on this one. Walmart has those seats on their website, says they are replica coins. I'm thinking this looks to be the likely explanation. (But I hope not for your sake MorgansDad)
